November: Gratitude 🤲

God is nearer than you think 👀

Some ideas to get you started

Level 1: Novice

  1. 📓 Keep a “gratitude journal,” writing one thing you are thankful for at the end of each day.
  2. 😄 Make a habit of expressing gratitude to someone in your life each day, even if it’s just by saying “thank you!”
  3. ☕️ Pass along the blessings by paying for the person behind you in the drive-thru.
  4. 📓 At the end of the month, read through your gratitude journal and thank God for each gift you received this month.

Level 2: Apprentice

  1. ✉️ Write one letter a week to someone in your life you’re grateful for. Let them know what their presence means to you.
  2. 💭 Embrace a regular practice of the examen prayer, pausing to notice things to be grateful for as you reflect with God.
  3. ✍🏼 Write your own psalm of thanksgiving! (Need inspiration? Check out Psalm 34, 100, & 136!)
  4. 📱 Find a friend to practice gratitude with, and challenge each other to send a text each day with something you’re grateful for!

Level 3: Master

  1. 🤔 Think back over the last few months and remember some of the harder moments. Ask God to show you the gifts that you received through these moments, and express gratitude for them.
  2. 🌮 Pick the person in your city you’re most grateful for, and treat them to dinner!
  3.  🚫 Try to identify one thing in your life that keeps you from being grateful, and avoid it for the month. It could be a show, a social media account you follow, or even something as nebulous as a thought pattern.
  4. 🍪 In response to all the ways you’ve been blessed, find a way to spontaneously bless a neighbor. Bake some cookies, send a gift card, or secretly pay their utility bill!
