Secondhand Finds
There’s something special about the thrill of the hunt—sifting through racks of clothes, shelves of trinkets, and stacks of old books in search of a find that feels just right. Thrifting reminds us that beauty doesn’t have to be brand-new. Worn-out and secondhand things still have worth, and items once discarded can find new life.
It’s a reflection of how God sees us. Not for our flaws or what’s been worn down, but for the stories we carry and the purpose we still have.
Here’s a scripture and a prayer to bring gratitude and joy into your thrifting adventure.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
A Prayer for Thrifting
God of second chances, thank you for the joy of discovery—for forgotten treasures and unexpected finds. As I browse these aisles, remind me that worth isn’t measured by price tags or brand names. Help me see beauty in what’s been worn and loved, and in the same way, remind me of the beauty you see in me. Like a skilled restorer, you renew what is broken and breathe life into what seems discarded. May my heart mirror your vitality and care in all things. Amen.
