SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE

A simple prayer is all it takes to connect with God everyday. And if you don’t know how to pray, no worries! We’ve got you covered. Check out this simple prayer below to get started!

Need to Make More Friends?

Do you ever have a lot of fun with the people around you, but when you stop to think about it, realize the friendships really aren’t all that deep? Or, maybe, you feel like you have a really hard time even putting yourself out there, to begin with.

Forming deep bonds and friendships can be intimidating. You want to feel seen and known… but what if they don’t like you? And, where do you even start?

While there are all kinds of practical tips we could give (and we’ll get there!), sometimes we just gotta take a step back and, first, invite God into our desires and worries.

If you’re desiring a purpose for friendship that goes beyond just hanging out, this prayer is for you!

“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you” (John 15:15).

A Prayer for Creating Meaningful Connections

Jesus, God-Friend, you do not call us servants, but friends—companions on this mission to see love, peace, and hope made known. You do not leave us to fend for ourselves, but invite us into community with you and others. Thank you especially for my brother/sister, _________. Draw the two of us closer to you and one another, and help us to become companions and confidants.

Reflection:

  1. Who was a good friend to you growing up? What made them so enjoyable to be around?
  2. What are the qualities you value in others that you look for in a friend?
  3. What are qualities about yourself that you believe make you a good friend?
  4. What makes it difficult to “go deeper” with the people around you?
