A Prayer for a First Sip of Water

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE

John 4:14

If you don’t know how to pray, getting started can feel strange. So, check out this simple prayer to help you grow in your prayer life, and connect with God today!

Fresh Glass of Water

You know that feeling — the cool rush of water over a dry throat, the instant relief that comes from a single sip. For many of us, we’re blessed to live in a time and place where water has become one of those things we often take for granted. Sometimes we forget that not only is it foundational to human life, but it’s also a gift that points to something deeper.

Just as water refreshes our bodies, God’s presence renews our souls. We see the language of water used to restore throughout the entirety of scripture, from the waters parting in the Red Sea to the waters of Baptism. Water plays a vital role in the story of the Bible,

So, as you take that first sip today, pause and let this scripture and this prayer remind you of the one who truly satisfies.

“Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst” (John 4:14).

A Prayer for a First Sip of Water

Spring of everlasting life, who satisfies every thirst, thank you for this gift that refreshes and sustains me. As I drink, remind me that only you can quench the deepest longings of my soul. Fill me with your grace and let my life overflow with your love. Amen.
