Don’t worry 🌷
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”(Matthew 6:25-27).

When you’re low, the best place to look is up. Look up at God, knowing he’s the One who protects you, and who will lift your head. You might be down for a while, but he wants good things for you. God will lift you up.
If you’re having trouble believing that today, because you feel like the “good” God wants for you is out of reach, try meditating through this Psalm with us, and talk to him about everything you’re processing.
Psalm 3:3-4
3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
4 I call out to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain.
What This Teaches Us about God
- He protects his people (v. 3)
- He lifts us up when we’re down (v. 3)
- He answers when we call out to him (v. 4)
Prayers of Response
Jesus, I praise you because I felt your shield of protection when _________.
Lord, right now, it feels like _________ has brought me really low, and I know you’re the one who will lift me up again.
Prayer Requests
Please help _________ (name) to feel your protection from _________ today.
Lord, please show me what your answer is to my prayers about _________, because it feels like you’ve been silent.
Prayers of Readiness
Lord, I will trust you to lift me up in the future because when _________ had me down, you lifted my head and gave me hope.
Today, I will call out to you for help with _________, because I want to walk in your strength and ability, not my own.

A lot of people today are stuck in something some psychologists call the happiness trap.
It sounds harmless, but it works like this: You assume happiness should be your normal state.
So, when life feels stressful, confusing, or painful…you assume something is wrong with you or your life. During a “good week,” you feel confident. After a “bad week,” you feel like a failure.
Then you try harder to fix your emotions, control your thoughts, or change your circumstances.
But the harder you chase happiness, the more exhausted you become.
Many people today feel this tension: “I’m doing everything I’m supposed to… but I still feel stuck.”
The Bible offers a different path. Instead of building life around happiness, Scripture invites us to build our lives around identity, purpose, and love—things that are only found in Jesus and remain steady even when life becomes difficult.
We’re sharing a free resource from our friends at Discovery Series exploring this idea in more depth.
If you’ve ever felt caught in the pressure to be happy all the time, this guide might really encourage you.

Sometimes, we forget who we are. Not like our names or our addresses, but the deeper truth—the one reality that actually matters. We forget that before we ever accomplished anything, before we failed at anything, before we were even born, God named us beloved.
But in the noise of life, it’s easy to let other voices drown out that truth. The ones that say you’re not enough, that you’re too much, that you’re defined by your mistakes or successes. Yet God’s voice is steady, clear, and unchanging: “You are my beloved child. In you I delight.”
The Psalmist puts it like this: “The Lord takes delight in his people” (Psalm 149:4). Delight. Not frustration, not disappointment—delight. If you need that reminder today, here’s a Scripture that was first about Jesus, but captures how God responds to us too, and a prayer to bring you back to the truth of who you are.

Father, whose voice spoke over Jesus at the Jordan, speak that truth over me today. When I forget who I am, when the names the world gives me grow louder than your own, remind me: I am your child, your beloved. You are the Shepherd who calls me by name. You are the One who engraves me on the palms of your hands. May that truth be louder than shame, steadier than fear, and stronger than the voice of the enemy. Today, let me live as the one you love. My identity is secure in you. Amen.

3 things I learned in my early 20s (sometimes, the hard way 😅). Share this with someone who might relate, and comment “happy” to learn more about the happiness trap and how it might be affecting you.
